Shift Type: Day and Night shifts (per diem); schedule varies by assignment — staffing need: 3 RNs for day shift and 3 RNs for night shift. Specific start/end times are scheduled by the facility and will vary per shift.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, high-quality patient care for ICU patients, including open heart recovery cases
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process
• Monitor and respond to hemodynamic changes and communicate findings to physicians
• Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless recovery after open heart procedures
• Deliver patient and family education about condition, treatment and recovery expectations
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and uphold patient privacy and safety standards
• Mentor and guide other nursing personnel when caring for critically ill patients

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year as a staff RN in an acute care hospital with critical care experience
• BLS and ACLS required
• Open heart (cardiac surgery/recovery) experience required
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification preferred
• DCI/BVP competency and other specialty skills preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination/boosters preferred and other facility-required health screenings

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting cardiac data
• Proven ability to manage ICU patients, especially post-open-heart cases
• Comfortable with direct patient care and critical care interventions
• Patient and family teaching skills to support recovery and discharge planning
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in clinical condition
• Familiarity with common ICU competency exams and skills checklists
