Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment to ensure patient safety
• Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled procedures
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs and pass instruments efficiently during cases
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and stocking of instruments and supplies
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care
• Communicate clearly with the perioperative team to support seamless case flow

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or completion of an accredited surgical technology program
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain
• Previous perioperative or operating room experience preferred
• Ability to pass required background checks and credentialing
• Strong attention to sterile technique, safety, and infection control
• Team player with reliable attendance and good communication skills

Education

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and OR aseptic practices
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and instrumentation sets
• Competence in performing surgical counts and documentation
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and anticipate clinical needs
• Basic familiarity with electronic medical records and perioperative documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness
