Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg Neuro Stroke patients
• Perform thorough assessments and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, monitor patient responses and document care accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate timely stroke-focused interventions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and recovery expectations
• Escalate changes in patient condition promptly and participate in handoffs that ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for licensing
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and stroke certification highly recommended
• Clinical experience or strong competency in Med/Surg nursing and neuro/stroke care
• Comfort with 12-hour night shifts and working weekends as scheduled
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a fast-paced unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of neuro/stroke care principles and post-stroke management
• Proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration and IV therapy
• Skilled at prioritization, critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
• Effective teamwork and clear clinical documentation using electronic charting systems
• Ability to provide patient and family education with empathy and clarity
