Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate Med/Surg nursing care to adult patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient status, responding promptly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Support unit workflows, participate in shift handoffs and contribute to a positive team environment

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Louisiana) or eligibility for state licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and other certifications preferred
• Clinical experience on Med/Surg units preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and meet the demands of a fast-paced hospital setting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med/Surg nursing knowledge including patient assessment and care planning
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and accurate charting
• Skilled in prioritization, time management and working within interdisciplinary teams
• Competence in basic inpatient procedures and emergency response
