Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care on a medical-surgical unit, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to orders and policies
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, therapists, social workers—to coordinate safe, timely care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, discharge plans, and follow-up care
• Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently during 12+ hour shifts to maintain high-quality care
• Support unit workflows including admissions, discharges, transfers, and effective handoffs

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii, or the ability to obtain licensure prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or available on hire
• Clinical experience or strong interest in medical-surgical nursing
• Ability to safely perform medication administration, IV therapy, and routine nursing procedures
• Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and commitment to patient safety

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred where applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid patient assessment and clinical judgment skills appropriate for a Med/Surg setting
• Medication administration and documentation best practices
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting
• Ability to prioritize care during busy, high-acuity periods
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Basic familiarity with infection control, falls prevention, and patient safety protocols
