Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality med/surg nursing care to adult patients with compassion and clinical skill
• Assess and monitor stroke patients, applying NIHSS scoring as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Document patient conditions and interventions clearly and accurately in the chart
• Recognize changes in patient status and escalate concerns promptly
• Support safe patient handoffs during shift changes and contribute to unit continuity

Qualifications

• Current RN status (active license) — Illinois licensure preferred or eligibility to obtain
• NIHSS certification required prior to or upon start
• Experience in Med/Surg nursing and comfort caring for stroke patients
• Ability to work night shifts and commit to every-other-weekend coverage
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or encouraged where applicable

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg assessment and patient management skills
• Proficiency with stroke care protocols and NIHSS scoring
• Solid clinical judgment and prioritization in acute settings
• Accurate EHR documentation and clear communication skills
• Teamwork, adaptability, and a patient-centered approach
