Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients to improve mobility, function, and strength using evidence-based interventions
- Design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs that make a real difference in patients' lives
- Use the facility Electronic Medical Record to complete evaluations, progress notes, reports, and discharge summaries with accuracy and timeliness
- Supervise, guide, and mentor PT Assistants and Aides to ensure high-quality, consistent patient care
- Document patient care and follow up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations to support continuity and billing
- Communicate effectively with physicians, co-workers, and other offices to coordinate care and advocate for patient needs
- Apply DX and ICD-10 coding and follow PT billing policies for Medicare, workers' comp, private pay, auto, liens, and cash pay
- Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance and promote a safe environment for patients and staff
- Be hands-on with manual patient handling, transfers, and gait safety to support patient independence and safety
Qualifications
- Degree in Physical Therapy (required)
- Active license as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice or eligibility to obtain one in the near future (California license required or in-process)
- Comfort with 8-10 hour clinic days and the physical demands of outpatient therapy, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Experience with EMR systems and strong computer skills (Word, Internet, charting)
- Proficiency in ICD-10/DX coding and familiarity with Medicare and workers' compensation billing processes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with physicians, front office staff, and patients
- Supervisory experience or willingness to supervise PT Assistants and Aides
- Commitment to HIPAA, OSHA, and patient privacy practices
- Outpatient/rehabilitation experience and continuing education are a plus
Education
- Degree in Physical Therapy
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient evaluation and treatment planning for outpatient rehabilitation
- Rehabilitation program development and progress monitoring
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation and reporting
- ICD-10 and DX coding for accurate billing
- Understanding of Medicare, workers' compensation, and private pay billing nuances
- HIPAA compliance and patient privacy best practices
- Manual patient handling, transfers, and gait training
- Basic computer skills: typing, Word, Internet, and clinic software
- Strong interpersonal and team communication skills
- OSHA safety standards and clinic infection control practices
