Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity maternal and newborn care across the L&D unit with skill and compassion
• Assist and circulate for cesarean sections and support the OR scrub role when needed
• Administer and monitor IV drips including magnesium, titrating per protocol
• Support epidural and spinal procedures and assist with cerclage and external cephalic version when indicated
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate seamless patient care and optimal outcomes
• Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately using Meditech/CPN
• Respond rapidly to emergent situations and escalate care appropriately for maternal or neonatal instability
• Coach and educate patients and families through labor, delivery and postpartum transitions

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery or related high-acuity maternal/newborn care
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification listed with the role (as available)
• Experience with Meditech documentation and familiarity with CPN
• Comfortable in OR scrub/circulating role and assisting with cesarean sections
• Experience managing IV drips such as magnesium and caring for high-acuity maternal/newborn patients
• Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor support, fetal monitoring fundamentals and perioperative assistance
• Proficient with Meditech electronic documentation and CPN workflow
• Experience with epidurals, spinals, cerclage and external cephalic version procedures
• Ability to manage high-acuity maternal and neonatal situations with calm and competence
• Comfortable performing OR scrub and circulating responsibilities
• Competent in administering and titrating IV therapies, including magnesium infusions
• Strong patient education, triage and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Adaptable to a fast-paced L&D environment and floating within women’s and children’s services
