Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-op and critical cardiac care in the CVICU, managing complex patients with focus and compassion
• Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and interpret Swan Ganz data to guide clinical decisions
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning safely and effectively
• Care for invasive lines and devices: arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, Impella and other assist devices
• Operate and troubleshoot CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) when required
• Document care thoroughly in the Meditech EMR and communicate clear handoffs across the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, perfusionists, and multidisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Act as a team player on a fast-paced unit while maintaining patient safety and high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of adult critical care experience (ICU/CVICU/Neuro ICU or other critical care specialties) required
• Demonstrated ventilator experience and competency in arterial/central line and chest tube management
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and Swan Ganz catheter interpretation
• Familiarity with CRRT and Impella is highly desirable
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• BSN and CCRN are preferred but not strictly required

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiac critical care principles and post-op CABG/CVICU care
• Skilled in mechanical ventilation and advanced airway/ventilator management
• Competent with hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting invasive monitoring data
• Able to manage CRRT, Impella support, Swan Ganz use, arterial and central lines
• Comfortable charting and communicating using Meditech
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
