Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and rapidly identify arrhythmias and ischemic changes for STEMI/NSTEMI and CP rule-out patients
• Manage noninvasive ventilation and provide vigilant respiratory support
• Deliver safe IV medication administration, including antiarrhythmic therapies
• Provide cardiothoracic postoperative care after ICU transfer to support recovery
• Assess and manage peripheral vascular compromise to protect limb perfusion
• Float to Med/Surg or ER to accept CVCU and Med/Surg holds as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams to ensure seamless patient care
• Document assessments and interventions clearly and communicate changes in condition promptly

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) - title specifies RN Stepdown
• Minimum 6 months stepdown experience required
• Comfort and experience floating to Med/Surg or ER to take CVCU/Med Surg holds (required)
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and cover scheduled weekends
• Dependable, flexible team player who prioritizes patient safety

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation
• STEMI/NSTEMI recognition and acute cardiac care
• CHF management and fluid status assessment
• Noninvasive ventilation setup and monitoring
• Cardiothoracic postoperative care following ICU transfer
• Safe IV medication administration including antiarrhythmics
• Assessment of peripheral vascular status and compromise
• Experience functioning in a 33-bed unit with a typical ratio of 1:4
