Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Neuro ICU, prioritizing safety and clinical excellence
• Perform focused neurological assessments and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Administer medications and titrate vasoactive/critical care drips per protocol and provider orders
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway care in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, pharmacists) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and care plans with compassion and clarity
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license for the state of Louisiana
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required or obtained shortly after hire
• Prior Neuro ICU or critical care experience preferred
• Comfortable with high-acuity monitoring, vasoactive medications, and advanced neuro assessments
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background and drug screening as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ICU environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Completion of relevant critical care orientation or neuro-specific training is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurologic assessment and recognizing subtle changes in neuro status
• Proficient with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Experience with ventilator management and airway support in critical care
• Familiarity with medication titration for vasoactive agents and sedatives
• Competent with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Team-focused mindset and strong critical thinking / prioritization skills
