Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality acute and stepdown care to MedSurg Tele and PCU patients, including geriatric, ortho, and post-procedural cardiac patients
• Interpret telemetry strips and act on dysrhythmias promptly and confidently
• Titrate and manage common drips (Heparin, Cardizem/Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin) following unit protocols
• Care for post-cardiac cath and CABG patients (typical stepdown/post-op care days 3-4)
• Collaborate with monitor techs, charge nurses, RTs and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe patient care
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate handoffs clearly when floating between units
• Support patient throughput including caring for inpatients holding in ED when needed
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing competency validation (including dysrhythmia exam)

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Arizona
• BLS and ACLS certification required prior to or upon start
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (job posting lists 2 years); at least 1 year of experience in a PCU/stepdown setting
• Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias (dysrhythmia exam required; must pass within two attempts)
• Comfortable and experienced with drip titration and post-cardiac cath care
• Ability to float across MedSurg Tele and PCU and work nights with every-other-weekend rotation

Education

• BSN not required (job indicates BSN Required: No)
• Active RN license required; completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN) expected

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• IV drip management and titration (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin)
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP and heated high-flow oxygen therapy
• Post-operative cardiac and cath lab patient care
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Ability to adapt quickly as a float-pool clinician across multiple units and campuses
