Roles & Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor SSSU/PACU and GI nursing staff, promoting excellent patient outcomes
• Lead hiring, disciplinary actions and performance evaluations for your team
• Provide hands-on peri-operative nursing care in pre-op, post-op and PACU areas
• Recognize and intervene for post-anesthesia and post-operative complications
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Organize staff meetings and drive educational efforts to keep the team current
• Champion performance improvement projects and assist with issue resolution
• Maintain a safe, compliant work area in accordance with nursing and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — active and in good standing (RN indicated as required)
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience in Surgery and GI (explicit requirement)
• 2–5 years progressive leadership experience preferred (supervisory experience a plus)
• Strong communication and professional writing skills
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team and manage staffing processes
• Computer proficiency for documentation, scheduling and performance tracking

Knowledge & Skills

• Peri-operative nursing: PACU, pre-op and post-op care
• GI nursing experience and surgical patient management
• Nursing assessment and the nursing process for patient-centered care
• Recognition of post-anesthesia and post-operative complications
• Team supervision, collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary coordination
• Performance improvement methodologies and staff education
