Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care to adult and geriatric patients on a PCU/Stepdown unit
• Continuously monitor cardiac status and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy while documenting care accurately in Epic
• Respond effectively as part of Rapid Response/Code teams and support emergency responses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (respiratory, PT, pharmacy, social work, IV teams) to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on disease management, discharge planning, and medications
• Float to other OSU units as needed, maintaining flexibility and a team-first attitude
• Adhere to isolation precautions, infection control practices, and facility policies

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
• BLS and ACLS required
• Progressive Care / Stepdown / PCU experience preferred
• Comfortable with cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Epic charting and medication systems (Pyxis, Accudose, Omnicell) a plus
• First-time travelers accepted — travel experience not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy, peripheral line care/management and phlebotomy
• Oxygen administration and respiratory support (nasal cannula)
• Use of Pyxis, Accudose and Omnicell medication systems
• SBAR communication and clear clinical handoffs
• Rapid Response/Code team participation and emergency response skills
• Familiarity with Epic documentation workflows
