Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility support, and fall prevention measures
• Support mealtime assistance and feeding as needed, respecting resident preferences
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
• Promote a clean, comfortable, and dignified environment for residents
• Work collaboratively with the care team to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or completion of an approved GNA program
• State registry or certification as required by the facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care best practices and ADL assistance
• Familiarity with safe resident transfer techniques and mobility aids
• Infection control, hand hygiene, and standard precautions
• Accurate documentation and charting skills
• Teamwork, time management, and respectful resident communication
• Ability to follow care plans and post-operative or chronic condition instructions
