Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 3x12-hour day shifts, variable start/end times: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM; 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM; 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM; 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM. Includes 1 weekend shift per month and 1 on-call shift per month. Shift type: Day (variable day shifts). Days of week vary and are not specified in the posting.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care for Phase II PACU patients, ensuring safe recovery and timely disposition
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs and apply clinical judgment to recognize and respond to changes
- Administer IV therapies, perform phlebotomy, and manage blood product administration per protocols
- Assess and manage pain effectively, including PCA pump oversight and opioid/reversal agent management
- Care for pediatric PACU patients when required and collaborate with the team on age-appropriate interventions
- Manage advanced lines and monitoring such as arterial lines, central lines, and ICP/EVD monitoring when applicable
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams and interdisciplinary support (RT, pharmacy, PT) to optimize patient outcomes
- Document care accurately in Epic and participate in safe handoffs and unit communications
Qualifications
- Active Alaska RN license required for Auto Offer; pending license accepted for screening but AK RN in hand required for placement
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (PACU or relevant acute care experience preferred)
- Experience with PACU Phase II and post-anesthesia care
- Pediatric PACU experience preferred
- Comfortable with 12-hour variable day shifts and the on-call requirement (1 call shift per month)
- Experience with Epic charting preferred
- Ability to manage a typical patient ratio of 1:2 in the PACU setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Post-anesthesia care and recovery protocols (PACU Phase II and Phase I familiarity)
- Patient monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- IV therapy, phlebotomy and central/arterial line care
- Pain assessment and PCA pump management
- Familiarity with ventilated patient care and respiratory support
- Blood product administration and medication management including IV vasopressors and reversal agents
- Neurological monitoring including EVD/ICP awareness
- Knowledge of types of anesthesia and conscious sedation
- Use of Epic electronic health record
- Trauma Level II experience and pediatric care considerations
