Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, toileting and feeding with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and support their emotional well-being
• Take and record vital signs, observe and report changes in condition to the nursing team
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Maintain accurate documentation and assist with daily charting duties
• Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and support staff to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or Maryland state equivalent such as CNA) preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience working in long-term care or with geriatric populations is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required
• Dependable, punctual, with a caring attitude and strong communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or state-approved training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance and resident hygiene
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, toileting assistance, feeding support
• Familiarity with documentation and charting best practices
• Infection control and safe patient handling techniques
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience and empathy for older adults
• Teamwork, time management and the ability to follow care plans
