Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and plate menu items consistently and efficiently following established recipes
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation to meet hospital and food-safety standards
• Work as a dependable team member during high-volume meal service to deliver quality meals on time
• Assist with food prep, portioning, and inventory rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness
• Follow dietary specifications and allergy protocols to support patient safety and satisfaction
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and fellow cooks to keep service running smoothly

Qualifications

• Food Handler’s Permit or local equivalent preferred or required per facility policy
• ServSafe (or comparable) certification preferred
• Prior line cook or high-volume kitchen experience preferred (1+ year recommended)
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Culinary certificate or formal training is a plus but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention
• Basic knife skills and competent use of common kitchen equipment
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion controls
• Time management and multitasking during peak service times
• Clear communication and cooperation with dietary and clinical staff
