Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate medical-surgical nursing care to a busy Med-Surg and dedicated ortho/spine unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care based on clinical need
• Monitor telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry for timely detection of changes
• Manage specialty equipment and procedures such as Alaris pumps, wound VACs, chest tubes, NG/feeding tubes, and specialty beds
• Provide care for postoperative patients (e.g., post-catheterization, lap appy/chole) and assist with thoracentesis/paracentesis cases
• Support patients with hemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis needs and continuous bladder irrigation when required
• Document care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Foster a positive patient experience through clear communication, teamwork, and timely interventions

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice required)
• BLS certification required; ACLS helpful/optional
• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg RN experience (ability to jump in and learn quickly is a must)
• Demonstrated assessment, prioritization, critical thinking, and time management skills
• Comfortable working with telemetry and specialty procedures common to a Med-Surg/Ortho-Spine unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Experience with Meditech or similar documentation systems
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Competence with Alaris pumps, wound VACs, chest tube care, and NG/feeding tube management
• Familiarity with dialysis care (hemodialysis/peritoneal) and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Ability to perform or assist with thoracentesis, paracentesis, and 12-lead EKGs
• Excellent communication, teamwork, organization, punctuality, and a self-starter attitude
