Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations using GE Short Bore systems (software 24x) to produce diagnostic images
• Ensure patient safety and comfort by screening for MRI contraindications and monitoring patients during exams
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot MRI equipment and software while following quality control procedures
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and unit staff to prioritize urgent and trauma imaging needs
• Accurately document exams and patient information in Cerner
• Respond to on-call requests within 30 minutes and provide reliable coverage during assigned call shifts
• Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and departmental policies to maintain a safe care environment

Qualifications

• California Radiologic Technologist License (required)
• ARRT (MR) and ARRT (R) certifications required; BLS (AHA) required
• MRI-trained CRT (per unit director) with hands-on experience on GE Short Bore (software 24x)
• Minimum 2 years of MRI/imaging experience as listed
• Preferred: ARRT (CT) and Fluoroscopy permit
• Able to work 12-hour weekend shifts and meet on-call response expectations
• Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities within the past year; PRN via outside firms is acceptable

Education

• Radiologic Technologist certification and formal MRI training (ARRT MR required)
• California state radiologic technologist licensure required
• No BSN required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with MRI protocols, sequence selection, and patient positioning
• Experience using GE Short Bore MRI software (24x) and image optimization techniques
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and electronic documentation workflows
• Strong patient communication and triage skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in an acute care setting
• Reliable call responsiveness and strong time-management skills
