Registered Nurse - ICU
Location: Prescott, AZ
Start Date: 05-11-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), rotating nights with required weekend coverage (typically 4 weekend shifts per pay period). Schedules posted 4 weeks in advance; first-to-float on nights and may float to PCU/MST/EC as needed.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care to CVICU/MS ICU/PCU patients, delivering safe, evidence-based nursing at the bedside
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret EKGs/ABGs to guide timely interventions
- Manage complex ventilator care — wean, troubleshoot and collaborate with RT when needed
- Titrate vasoactive drips, sedatives and paralytics per protocols to maintain hemodynamic stability
- Operate and care for advanced devices (CRRT/Prismaflex, IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR) when assigned
- Perform procedures and device management including chest tubes, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters and EVDs
- Act as a skilled respondent for rapid response and code blue situations as part of the unit team
- Chart accurately in Cerner and monitor telemetry (Nihon Kohden), reading strips and managing alarms
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible to practice in Arizona (or compact RN privileges as applicable)
- Minimum ~2 years of recent critical care/ICU nursing experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS required prior to start
- Strong EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills — must pass the required dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) before contract signing
- Experience with ventilator weaning/troubleshooting and ABG interpretation
- Comfort titrating critical care drips (pressors, sedation, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulation infusions)
- Preferred experience with CRRT (Prismaflex) and IABP; open-heart/post-op cardiac experience a plus
- Able to float to PCU/MST/EC ICU and work nights/weekends as required
- Must meet the radius rule and provider eligibility: candidates may not have been full time/part time/PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year
Education
- Active RN license (associate degree or diploma acceptable; BSN not required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
- Unit-specific orientation: 8 hours general hospital orientation plus two 12-hour unit shifts with preceptor/buddy (additional checkoffs for specialty skills as needed)
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care fundamentals: ventilator management, ABG interpretation, titration of drips
- Advanced cardiac monitoring and rhythm identification (EKG/dysrhythmia recognition)
- Hands-on experience with CRRT/Prismaflex and other renal replacement therapies
- Device knowledge: IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR, Swan-Ganz, arterial lines, chest tubes, EVDs
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring systems (Nihon Kohden) and Cerner electronic charting
- Airway adjunct familiarity including Glidescope, HFNC, Vapotherm, BiPAP/CPAP
- Ability to perform manual proning and high-acuity post-operative cardiac care
