Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit (SDU)
• Perform assessments, monitor telemetry, and respond to patient changes promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced treatments following protocols
• Document care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Float to other units as needed while maintaining clinical competence and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California) — required
• Experience working in an SDU, step-down, or telemetry environment preferred
• BLS required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Strong clinical assessment, telemetry interpretation, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to a block schedule
• Current ACLS/BLS certifications and up-to-date immunizations

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
• Skilled in post-operative and progressive care nursing
• Proficient with electronic medical records and accurate charting
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Time management, prioritization, and ability to handle fast-paced acuity
