Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care across both MedSurg and ER units, floating seamlessly between departments
• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients while maintaining excellent continuity of care
• Titrate critical medications including insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, and levophed with precision
• Start IVs and manage PICC lines and ports to support patient treatment plans
• Respond swiftly to codes including cardiorespiratory, stroke, and sepsis situations
• Participate in trauma response and stabilize patients for potential transfer
• Read and interpret cardiac strips independently while documenting findings accurately
• Collaborate directly with hospitalists and work independently with minimal staffing support

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Minnesota or compact license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• ER experience is mandatory for consideration
• MedSurg experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable working independently with minimal staff support
• Ability to adapt quickly and evaluate skill level during orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Experience with titratable drips and cardiac monitoring
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR system
• Knowledge of EMTALA regulations
• Excellent communication skills for direct hospitalist collaboration
• Ability to handle both swing bed rehab patients and critical trauma cases
