Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, and serology
• Analyze, verify, and report accurate test results including critical values to support timely patient care
• Prioritize testing workflow independently during weekend night shifts with minimal supervision
• Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to keep everything running smoothly
• Perform and document quality control, calibrations, and corrective actions to ensure reliable results
• Utilize Cerner EHR and Laboratory Information System for accurate documentation and reporting
• Communicate effectively with Emergency Department providers, nursing staff, and clinical teams
• Support urgent and emergent testing needs including blood bank requirements in a rural hospital setting

Qualifications

• ASCP MLS/MT or AMT certification required
• AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum five years of recent hospital laboratory experience strongly preferred
• Strong recent generalist experience across multiple lab disciplines required
• Previous independent night or weekend shift experience required
• Previous Critical Access Hospital or rural hospital experience strongly preferred
• Cerner EHR experience required
• Experience with QuidelOrtho Vitros 7600 preferred

Education

• Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field with completed clinical training required

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical Laboratory Science and laboratory testing expertise
• Quality control and instrumentation troubleshooting
• Specimen processing and phlebotomy skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication and prioritization skills
• Comfortable supporting Emergency Department and inpatient needs
