Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality direct patient care on a 32-bed Med-Surg Orthopedics unit
• Monitor and assess post-operative patients following neurosurgery, fracture repair and general surgery
• Perform nursing procedures such as NGT tube care, IV placement and foley management with competence
• Operate and manage equipment like PCA pumps, wound vacs and Hoyer lifts to support patient recovery
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech electronic medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, efficient care
• Maintain patient ratios and prioritize care to ensure safety and positive outcomes
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery and discharge instructions

Qualifications

• Valid LPN/LVN license in Texas (required)
• Minimum 1 year acute care experience, med-surg experience preferred
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekends
• Familiarity with Meditech charting is a plus
• Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work as an upbeat team player
• Experience with NGT tubes, IV placement and foley management preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and acute care skills
• Patient assessment and post-operative monitoring
• Meditech EMR documentation
• Proficiency with PCA pumps, wound vacs, Hoyer lifts and traction
• Strong time management, communication and teamwork
• Ability to safely manage patient ratios of roughly 1:5-1:7 depending on shift
