Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report any changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Document care accurately and timely in accordance with facility procedures
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to promote well-being
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (state-specific) or completion of an accredited GNA program
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Clear background check and up-to-date health screenings as required by facility
• Compassionate bedside manner with reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to follow care plans, document accurately, and communicate effectively
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, and safe resident handling
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively within a care team
• Attention to detail for accurate charting and reporting
