Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to licensed nursing staff
• Document care activities accurately and clearly to maintain continuity of care
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure nutrition and hydration needs are met
• Create a safe, clean, and respectful environment that promotes resident well-being
• Engage residents in social and restorative activities to promote quality of life

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Comfortable working with elderly populations and those with cognitive impairment
• Background check and required immunizations must be up-to-date per facility guidelines
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a care team
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered care
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
