Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care for geriatric residents, assisting with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff to ensure timely interventions
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility support, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment when needed
• Support mealtime and hydration needs, documenting intake and assisting those with special diets
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care activities and resident responses
• Foster a warm, respectful environment—engage residents in conversation and meaningful activities to promote well-being
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep residents and staff safe

Qualifications

• GNA certification/class (required) aligned with facility expectations
• Previous experience working with geriatric populations preferred but new grads with strong caregiving experience are welcome
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Comfort with physical demands of the role, including patient transfers and extended periods on your feet

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification or completed Geriatric Nursing Assistant class required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
• Familiarity with documentation practices and reporting changes in condition
• Basic infection control procedures and PPE usage
• Gentle, patient-centered approach to dementia and memory-care behaviors
• Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
