Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) for cardiac, vascular and transplant cases
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Manage intraoperative monitoring and support for procedures such as CABG, TAVR, TEVAR, LVAD and ECMO cases
• Perform thorough pre-op and post-op assessments and maintain accurate charting in EPIC
• Respond to trauma and code situations in a Level I Trauma environment with calm, decisive action
• Participate equitably in on-call rotation and weekend coverage to support continuous patient care
• Maintain sterile technique, equipment readiness and OR safety protocols (Universal Protocol/time-out, infection control)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state-required) — must be able to practice in Ohio
• Minimum 3 years OR experience OR equivalent, with at least 2 years dedicated cardiac and vascular experience (HARD STOP: 3 years overall)
• Minimum 1 year CVOR experience
• Minimum 1 year experience at a Level I Trauma facility
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Ability to work rotating shifts including evenings, nights and weekend call

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative cardiovascular and thoracic nursing skills (CABG, valve procedures, aortic repairs)
• Familiarity with endovascular procedures and tools (EVAR/TEVAR, angiography, atherectomy)
• Experience with advanced support devices (IABP, LVAD/RVAD, ECMO)
• Robotic-assisted cardiothoracic surgery exposure (Da Vinci systems) is a plus
• Strong intraoperative monitoring, sterile technique and specimen handling skills
• Emergency management skills: code response, malignant hyperthermia, fire safety
• Excellent teamwork, communication and critical thinking under pressure
