Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and interventions for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia and COPD
• Manage mechanical ventilation and advanced airway therapies including V60, Servo-1 and Servo-U
• Deliver and titrate high-flow oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizer treatments and suctioning with clinical confidence
• Perform thorough patient assessments and create effective, individualized treatment plans
• Document assessments and treatments accurately in Meditech and communicate changes to the care team
• Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary staff to achieve the best patient outcomes
• Participate in stroke education initiatives and support unit goals for quality improvement

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• NBRC certification and valid RT License for Florida required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Meditech experience preferred; stroke education experience preferred
• Ability to function independently in a fast-paced acute care setting and maintain collaborative physician relationships

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation management and ventilator modes
• Proficient with high-flow oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizers and suction equipment
• Solid patient assessment skills and the ability to develop effective respiratory care plans
• Accurate and timely documentation skills (Meditech experience is a plus)
• Comfortable working with advanced ventilators (V60, Servo-1, Servo-U) and oxygen delivery systems
• Effective communication and collaborative skills with physicians and nursing teams
• Active disciplinary approach to clinical problems and patient safety
