Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory assessment and interventions for patients across the continuum of care
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation and advanced airway devices
• Deliver evidence-based respiratory treatments such as aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance
• Analyze arterial blood gases and adjust therapy in collaboration with the care team
• Respond quickly and effectively during respiratory emergencies and code situations
• Document patient care, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary staff to develop patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, inhaler techniques, and home care

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT preferred) in good standing
• Current Georgia respiratory licensure or ability to obtain state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Clinical experience in acute care, critical care, or similar respiratory settings preferred
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Registry/credentialing as required by state and employer

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation
• Solid understanding of pulmonary physiology and ABG interpretation
• Familiarity with respiratory care protocols and infection control practices
• Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation
• Able to prioritize tasks and provide calm, effective care in high-acuity situations
