Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor patients in the Step-Down Unit, recognizing changes and escalating care when needed
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and according to policy
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and update care plans
Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education to support transitions and recovery
Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
Respond effectively to clinical emergencies and participate in unit initiatives to improve patient care

Qualifications

Current RN license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
Experience in a Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or progressive care setting preferred
Comfortable working 12.5-hour shifts and contributing to a collaborative team environment
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
Cardiac rhythm recognition and basic arrhythmia management
IV medication administration and infusion pump competency
Strong patient assessment and documentation practices
Team-based communication and handoff proficiency
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
