Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the step-down unit
• Perform thorough assessments and monitor patients on telemetry and advanced monitoring
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document thoroughly in the EHR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Comfortable and experienced with telemetry monitoring and cardiac care in a step-down setting
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and delegation skills
• Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Previous SDU or progressive care experience is a plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Patient assessment and early recognition of deterioration
• IV medication administration and titration knowledge
• EHR clinical documentation and computerized medication administration
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced unit
