Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor SDU patients regularly, using clinical judgment to identify changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac monitoring data, escalating concerns promptly
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide compassionate education and discharge planning for patients and families
• Document clinical care and patient responses clearly and promptly in the EHR
• Respond effectively to rapid response or emergency situations on the unit
• Mentor and support colleagues to maintain high standards of patient care and teamwork

Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana, or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Prior SDU, step-down, or telemetry experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Strong IV therapy and medication administration skills
• Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and prioritization
• Skilled in patient and family education with clear communication
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems
• Team-oriented mindset with effective collaboration skills
