Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Neuro Stepdown patients
• Perform continuous neurological assessments and intervene when changes occur
• Manage telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and complex nursing tasks
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Prioritize patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practices on the unit

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing; Louisiana licensure required or eligible
• Experience in Neuro Stepdown, SDU, or progressive care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment skills and familiarity with telemetry and neuro monitoring
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Current certifications and required hospital orientation completed prior to assignment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurological assessment and recognizing subtle changes in patient status
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Medication administration and titration for complex patients
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and rapid decision-making
• Proficient with electronic medical record documentation
• Teamwork, patient advocacy, and family education
