Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step Down Unit
• Monitor and assess patients using advanced clinical judgment and telemetry observation
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and other treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and update care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge needs
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Document patient care clearly and thoroughly in the medical record

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact license where applicable)
• Experience caring for step-down/telemetry patients preferred
• BLS required; ACLS and other advanced certifications preferred or supported
• Strong assessment skills and experience with cardiac monitoring/telemetry
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shift blocks and provide compassionate, patient-centered care
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to function as part of a dynamic team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with step-down unit patient population and common interventions
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump management
• Patient assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization
• Effective documentation and handoff communication skills
• Team collaboration and patient/family education
