Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused, high-quality nursing care to step-down unit patients with attention to detail and compassion
• Assess patient condition continuously and respond to changes with prompt interventions
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while adhering to safety protocols
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Perform timely and precise documentation to ensure continuity of care and regulatory compliance
• Support patient and family education, preparing them for transitions in care and discharge
• Respond effectively to emergent situations and assist with stabilization and escalation as needed
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives and best-practice implementation

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Louisiana) or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Experience or comfort working with step-down/telemetry patients is ideal
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with step-down unit practices, telemetry monitoring, and intermediate acuity care
• Proficient medication administration and IV management skills
• Competence with electronic medical record documentation
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and time management
• Patient-centered care approach and effective family education skills
