Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour nights (NOC); self-scheduled 4 weeks at a time; 36 guaranteed hours per week; includes weekend coverage (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks / ~3 weekend days per pay period) and holiday coverage as needed

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality med/surg nursing care to a diverse post-op and acute patient population
- Perform and document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient education using Cerner
- Maintain sterile technique and perform Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as required
- Titrate Heparin per unit protocols and collaborate with the care team on patient plans
- Work proactively with the charge and resource RN to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 1:4-5)
- Participate in SIMs Lab competency assessments and complete required unit education (lifts, restraints, wound care)
- Float to other med/surg/telemetry areas when needed and support unit staffing and patient flow
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to work in Arizona) and ability to meet facility credentialing requirements
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience with recent med/surg experience required
- Must have Level 1 trauma experience (this is mandatory)
- Experience with 12-hour night shifts preferred and able to meet weekend/holiday requirements
- Competence with Foley catheter insertion and central line care; ability to pass SIMs Lab skills
- Successful completion of DYS exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed) and pass/fail orientation exam on day 1
- Comfort with Cerner charting and willingness to float to telemetry or other med/surg units when needed
- No first-time travelers; travel teams must have own vehicle; facility requires natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
Education
- BSN not required; nursing degree/diploma accepted. Active RN license required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong med/surg and acute care nursing knowledge
- Sterile field maintenance and central line dressing change technique
- Foley catheter insertion and urinary care
- Wound care fundamentals and lift/restraint procedures
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
- Basic telemetry familiarity (preferred) and ability to work with RT on unit
- Ability to work independently on night shift and collaborate with charge/resource RN
- Critical thinking for common diagnoses like post-op care, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infections
