Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care for step-down unit patients, monitoring changes and intervening promptly
Assess patient condition and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary team
Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient record
Contribute to a positive unit culture by supporting colleagues and mentoring newer staff

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana (or eligible for licensure)
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS/PALS as appropriate or preferred
Prior experience in a step-down, telemetry, or progressive care setting preferred
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
Medication administration and IV therapy
Patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
