Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Perform ongoing patient assessment and monitor telemetry and other critical parameters
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document patient care thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse license (ability to practice in Louisiana preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or encouraged
• Experience and comfort working in a Step-Down/telemetry setting
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable administering IV medications and managing telemetry monitoring
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred where applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Skilled medication administration and IV therapy management
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and families
• Time management and prioritization during busy shifts
• Electronic medical record documentation proficiency
