Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care for stepdown (SDU) patients, monitoring clinical status closely
• Perform thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Continuously monitor telemetry and hemodynamic status, recognizing and escalating changes promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and families to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives on the unit

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN eligible and willing to obtain LA authorization)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Clinical experience caring for higher-acuity or stepdown patients preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and telemetry interpretation skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a patient-centered mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with patient monitoring and telemetry
• Skilled in medication administration and IV therapy
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex patients
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and patient/family education
