Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to step-down unit patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and advanced monitoring to detect changes quickly
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team to implement care plans
• Perform timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and according to policy
• Educate patients and families about condition, care plans, and discharge needs
• Respond promptly to patient condition changes and escalate appropriately
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or compact RN licensure as applicable
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience caring for step-down or telemetry patients preferred
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills in acute care settings
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Familiarity with progressive care/step-down clinical protocols
• Excellent clinical assessment and triage abilities
• Proficient documentation and electronic medical record experience
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
• Time management and prioritization in high-acuity settings
