Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit with attention to safety and clinical best practices
• Perform focused assessments, monitor telemetry and interpret trends to intervene early
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting care thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and discharge plans to support recovery
• Respond to clinical changes promptly and escalate concerns to providers when needed
• Contribute to unit process improvements and quality initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or compact RN license eligible for LA practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or as required by facility
• Experience caring for telemetry/step-down patients preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage moderate-to-high acuity patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a patient-first attitude

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Cardiopulmonary assessment and post-procedure care
• IV medication administration and infusion pump management
• Care coordination and discharge planning
• Electronic medical record documentation and charting accuracy
• Critical thinking, prioritization and time management in a busy unit
