Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and recover post-anesthesia patients in Phase I PACU, ensuring safe transition to the next level of care
• Provide advanced cardiac and respiratory monitoring including telemetry and ventilator management
• Administer IV therapies, blood products and titratable vasoactive medications with precision
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and acute changes using ACLS and BLS protocols
• Perform neurological monitoring including ICP/EVD observations and NIHSS assessments
• Use conscious sedation and anesthesia-related monitoring skills, applying RASS and malignant hyperthermia protocols when needed
• Document care accurately in the required charting system and communicate concise handoffs to the team
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response and interdisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• ACLS required
• BLS required
• NIHSS required
• CCRN preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience (as listed in the job details)
• Charting system experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Comfort with blood product administration, central line care and ventilator patient management
• Willingness to take call and participate in scheduled weekend coverage per the posted rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Phase I PACU and post-anesthesia care expertise
• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Ventilator care and management of ventilated patients
• IV therapy, blood product administration and central line management
• Sedation monitoring, RASS scoring and conscious sedation procedures
• Familiarity with external ventricular drain (EVD) and ICP monitoring
• Use of malignant hyperthermia protocols and postoperative pain management
• Ability to work in inpatient surgical/Phase I PACU settings with varied surgical case types
