Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients and advocate for their needs
• Assess patient status, monitor changes and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to policies
• Coordinate patient care plans and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and support staff to deliver excellent outcomes
• Support unit initiatives to improve patient experience and clinical performance
• Mentor and support colleagues to foster a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Med/Surg nursing experience; comfort with a 12-hour shift rhythm
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Critical thinking, strong assessment and patient management skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Prior experience with electronic health records preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and monitoring
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Postoperative and general medical nursing care
• Patient and family education
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients safely
• Team collaboration and clear clinical communication
