Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for Med/Surg patients
Assess and monitor patient conditions, identifying changes and escalating appropriately
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to support recovery goals
Document assessments, interventions and patient responses in the chart promptly
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
Experience or clinical competency in Medical-Surgical nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to unit scheduling needs
Strong communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient clinical assessment and medication administration skills
Familiarity with common Med/Surg diagnoses and interventions
Ability to prioritize, triage and manage multiple patients safely
Comfortable using electronic health record systems and accurate documentation
Patient education, discharge planning and care coordination skills
