Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient condition and response to treatment
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, care plans and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement, safety initiatives and accurate handoffs
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or ability to obtain licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS and other specialty certifications encouraged
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
• Must meet facility requirements for background checks and immunizations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Patient assessment, wound care and post-op management
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
• Effective communication, time management and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritize and respond in fast-paced clinical environments
