Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor patient status, and escalate changes promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapies and treatments safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record and maintain clear communication with patients and families
• Support patient education and discharge planning to promote recovery and reduce readmissions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact state eligibility—confirm at time of hire)
• Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment and care planning for med/surg populations
• Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy and common nursing procedures
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting accurately
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family education skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining patient safety
