Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status using external fetal monitoring and respond to changes promptly
• Interpret dysrhythmias and lead emergency cardiac and neonatal resuscitation efforts when needed
• Provide skilled intrapartum and postpartum care, including management of postpartum magnesium therapy and hemorrhage recovery
• Assist and circulate for cesarean sections and support high-risk and vaginal deliveries
• Start and maintain IVs, manage infusion pumps, and administer medications such as oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
• Support newborn care in the delivery room — APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and cord sampling
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV, RT, PT, pharmacy, rapid response) to deliver seamless patient-centered care
• Document care timely in Epic and ensure accurate handoffs and family education at discharge

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (required)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications (required)
• Fetal Monitoring certification (required)
• Epic experience (required)
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation (required)
• Comfort with 1:3 patient ratios on days and nights
• Willingness to float to other units within the OSU organization as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Labor & delivery management, including LDRP workflows
• Neonatal resuscitation and delivery room newborn care
• IV therapy, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), and infusion pump management
• Emergency response: adult and infant cardiac arrest, rapid response participation
• Use of Electronic Health Record (Epic) for charting and orders
• Medication administration including magnesium sulfate, oxytocin, insulin drips, and analgesia management
