Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate for GI and IR cases, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety throughout procedures
• Provide procedural sedation and airway management in the IR/Procedural Sedation setting
• Operate as a GI tech when experienced (scope handling and tech duties strongly preferred)
• Collaborate with perioperative charge nurse and interventionalists to coordinate cases and on-call coverage
• Assist with basic scope cleaning and instrument handling as needed, and support weekend call responsibilities
• Float to sister units (GI, IR, ICU, ER) when case volume requires and to maintain productive hours
• Complete required competency checks and pass pre-employment DYS exam within the required timeframe

Qualifications

• Active RN license (California) required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (IR, ICU, or ER experience acceptable if IR-focused)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (must have or obtain per hiring window)
• Procedural Sedation certification to manage airways (will be provided during orientation if not already held)
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Two supervisory references required at submittal (one within 12 months and one within 3 years)
• Successful completion of DYS exam within 24-48 hours of acceptance (two attempts allowed)

Education

• Active RN license (California)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and acute care nursing fundamentals
• GI procedures: EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs and related instrumentation
• IR procedures: dialysis catheters, thoracentesis/paracentesis, liver biopsies and basic IR support
• Procedural sedation and airway management
• Scope cleaning and instrument handling best practices
• Ability to function as both circulator and tech for GI cases when needed
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical records
